A rescue operation took place at the North East coast after a man was found injured in a rock pool.
The man, who is in his 30s, was seen staggering towards the lower promenade in Whitley Bay at around 10.30pm on Tuesday, before disappearing from view.
He was discovered in a rock pool beneath a 20-foot drop by a team of Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade and ambulance crew, who provided first aid and took him away on a stretcher over the rocky terrain. It is thought he fell down a set of steps in the area.

The man, who was conscious but unable to speak, was rescued by 13 responders from a host of emergency services - all of whom were stood down just after midnight. The man was taken to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care hospital in Cramlington.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Shortly before 10pm on Tuesday (December 27) officers received a report of concern for the welfare of a man near to the lower promenade in Whitley Bay.
“Emergency services attended the scene where the man in his 30s had already been brought to safety by partner agencies. Thankfully he was not seriously injured but was checked over as a precaution.”
North East Ambulance Service confirmed it sent four vehicles from its hazardous area response team, a duty officer, a rapid response paramedic and a double crewed ambulance and the man was taken to hospital.
