Man who died in horror A75 crash days before Christmas is named by police

A man who died in a horrific road crash on the A75 just days before Christmas has been named by police.

Mercy crews raced to the incident near to the Lochfoot Roundabout in Dumfries on Friday, December 23. Paramedics attended, however the driver of the silver Renault Megane was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers have named him as 30-year-old Lewis Kearns-Kinnear from Castle Douglas. Nobody else was hurt during the crash.

A police investigation has since been launched into the incident as officers have urged any witnesses to come forward. Particularly, they want to hear from those with dash-cam footage.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are continuing to appeal for information to establish the full circumstances. Anyone who saw what happened or has relevant dash cam footage of the area at the time is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 4032 of 23 December, 2022.
