Man who died after Glasgow house 'incident' named by police as man charged

Police have revealed the identity of a man who died following an incident in Glasgow's east end.

Paul Byrne tragically lost his life, after police were called to reports of a man being found 'wounded' inside a Glenalmond Street property around 7.50pm on Sunday.

The 47-year-old was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died a short time later.

His next of kin are aware.

A 48-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

On Tuesday officers thanked locals who helped with their probe and passed on information.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Kelly said: "Our thoughts remain with Paul's family at what continues to be a very difficult time for them.

"I would also like to thank the local community for their help and assistance during our investigation and to those who came forward with information."

A force spokesperson told the Record: "At around 7.50pm on Sunday, May 1 police received a report of a 47-year-old man injured within a property in Glenalmond Street, Glasgow.

"The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but died a short time later.

"A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death.

"He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
