Man who died after coming to hospital following possible lethal assault named as Gardai investigate

A man who tragically died after arriving to hospital following a possible alleged assault has been named locally as Gardai investigate all circumstances surrounding his unsolved death.

Paul Dempsey, who was in his 60s and from north Dublin, presented himself at hospital on Saturday and was immediately treated for injuries.

But he sadly died on Wednesday, Dublin Live reports.

It's understood that Gardai are investigating the matter as there is a possibility that the man was assaulted and received fatal wounds from the attack which led to his untimely death.

As part of their investigation, a property was examined in north Dublin on Wednesday.

A post-mortem is currently taking place which will determine what direction the investigation takes but Gardai are said to be keeping all options open at this time.

Gardai have been contacted for further comment on the incident.
