Man who attended lockdown protest ridiculed for saying he doesn’t want his kids ‘waking up in some utopia’

Anti-vaxxers refuse vaccine passes

A protester at an anti-lockdown demonstration has been ridiculed for saying he doesn’t want his children and grandchildren “waking up in some utopia”.

‘Utopia’ means a place where everything is perfect, probably the opposite of what the individual – understood to have been filmed at the protests in London on Saturday – wanted to say about restrictions.

Yet he actually said: “My passion is the future and not my future, the future of my children, my grandchildren and so on. I don’t want them waking up in some utopia.”

People opposed to another lockdown and vaccine passports gathered in the capital on the same day that its mayor, Sadiq Khan, declared a major incident over a “surge” in cases of the omicron variant of coronavirus.

Earlier this week, Boris Johnson’s ‘plan B’ measures to tackle the virus were backed by MPs, despite nearly 100 Tories rebelling against the proposals.

The plans include Covid passes for crowded venues and face coverings in more indoor spaces.

After the unname attendee voiced his concerns about the government’s actions with a poor mistake, Twitter users were quick to ridicule him:

In fairness, he could well be talking about the Channel 4 conspiracy drama Utopia, a series about viruses which amassed a cult following before it was cruelly cancelled by the broadcaster in 2014.
