Man was 'trying his luck' on door handles in middle of night

A burglar targeted homes on an Old Swan road by "trying door handles."

Police said that on Thursday, September 29, a man had been "trying his luck" on door handles of properties on Rossall Road. He managed to get into two homes and took a school backpack, bank cards and car keys.

Officers have now released a CCTV image of a man who may have information to assist enquiries into the reports of burglaries. If you are the man pictured in this image, or know who he is, they have asked you to get in touch.

Detective Constable Sam Jennings said: "We believe this was an opportunist burglar who was trying his luck to see if he could open the front door of several houses in the area.

"If you are the man pictured, or you recognise him, please get in touch because we believe he has information that will help our investigation. Burglaries can have a massive impact on the person and families affected as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through, and can often have a long-lasting impact on victims.

"We encourage people to come forward if you know anything about a burglary or someone acting suspicious in your area, either directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers. We act on all information provided. If you recognise the man pictured or have any information about this incident, contact us @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with reference 22000721225."
