Manchester United continued their impressive home form under Erik ten Hag as they ran out 1-0 winners over West Ham United on Sunday.
Marcus Rashford's first-half strike proved to be the difference between the two sides as United closed the gap on the Champions League spots - with the Red Devils just a point behind Newcastle United in fourth.
They had to battle hard for the victory, however, and West Ham arguably deserved a point from their second-half efforts, with David de Gea producing a number of crucial saves.
However, David Moyes' men were unable to get past the Spaniard as Ten Hag's United remain unbeaten at home in the league since the opening day of the campaign.
Here are the winners and losers from Old Trafford.
Winners
Marcus Rashford
With the World Cup looming, Rashford needed a couple of impressive performances to put his name firmly in Gareth Southgate's plans for the tournament.
And it is safe to say he delivered against West Ham, with the 24-year-old scoring an excellent opener for the Red Devils.
Rashford leaped highest in the box to expertly head the ball beyond Lukas Fabianski for his 100th United goal, following a superb cross from Eriksen.
It wasn't just his goal that stood out, with Rashford combining well with Cristiano Ronaldo throughout and looking dangerous on the left-hand side. Time will tell about whether Rashford will make the place, but he is giving himself the best possible chance at the moment.
Christian Eriksen
When Eriksen made the switch to Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer, many were doubting whether the 30-year-old could perform at the very top level for a club the size of United.
But there is no doubt he has surprised the doubters and produced another world-class moment for the Red Devils in the clash with the Hammers.
Eriksen's cross for Rashford's opener was nothing short of sensational, as the Dane played a one-two with Bruno Fernandes, before clipping the ball on the half-volley towards the head of the England international. It was an inch-perfect delivery and on a plate for Rashford to tower above Thilo Kehrer and fire home.
Diogo Dalot
United were put under pressure by West Ham during the second-half and had to be resilient, at times, to keep out the Hammers.
Dalot contributed to a well-earned clean sheet and produced a number of key interceptions at the back post. One in particular stood out, as Jarrod Bowen whipped an enticing ball to the back post, where Michael Antonio was ready to head home, but Dalot got up first to stop the Hammers forward from getting a shot off.
Gary Neville was impressed with Dalot's performance and praised the Portugal international for how he managed to defend at the back post. He said, during co-commentary for Sky Sports: "This is an absolute lesson in back post defending from a right-back."
David de Gea
Top teams often have to rely on their goalkeeper for big moments to help them across the line in tight matches. And De Gea showed exactly why he is recognised as one of the best shot-stoppers in the world, as he made a number of crucial saves to keep United's clean sheet in tact.
After a relatively quiet first-half, De Gea was much busier in the second period as West Ham tried to get back into the game. De Gea produced one of the saves of the season to keep out Kurt Zouma's goal-bound header, before saving from Said Benrahma's rasping drive.
Then De Gea had to make an outstanding save to stop Declan Rice's fiere long-range drive in injury-time, tipping the ball wide.
Losers
Cristiano Ronaldo
The under-fire forward returned to the United starting XI in the Premier League for the first time since his outburst against Tottenham as Ten Hag handed Ronaldo a chance to impress. However, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner failed to impress and missed a couple of excellent chances to get on the scoresheet.
Ronaldo had two opportunities on the hour mark and failed to take both of them. The first was a difficult chance as he couldn't direct a header on target, before he was presented with a superb opening after Rashford played him through inside the left-hand channel. But the Portuguese star showed no composure and lashed the ball wide.
That perhaps summed up Ronaldo's performance and how the former Real Madrid man is struggling for form at the moment. He has scored just three goals all season - with only one coming in the Premier League.
Jadon Sancho
With Antony out injured it was telling to see that Ten Hag opted for Anthony Elanga on the right hand side over Sancho, who watched on as an unused substitute throughout the 90 minutes.
Sancho would have been delighted with the appointment of Ten Hag in the summer as the Dutchman is better at working with attacking players than many of United's recent bosses, but at a time when he'd have thought he was sweating on a World Cup spot it is his club place that he needs to be worried about.
