Manchester United have been urged to sack current manager Ruben Amorim and replace him with Gary Neville by former BBC Match of the Day presenter Des Lynam.
Lynam Calls For Man Utd to Hire Gary Neville as Manager
Lynam, a veteran broadcaster and long-time football pundit, has voiced his concerns over Amorim’s turbulent start at Old Trafford, insisting that Neville is the ideal candidate to lead United back to their former glory.
The Portuguese coach has struggled to make an impact since replacing Erik ten Hag in November, winning just three of his first 11 Premier League games in charge.
The latest disappointment came in a 3-1 defeat to Brighton last Sunday, marking the Seagulls’ third consecutive victory at Old Trafford and their sixth win in seven meetings with United.

Neville’s Second Chance in Management?
Despite Neville’s disastrous spell as manager of Valencia in 2015-16—where he lasted just four months and won only three league games—Lynam remains convinced that the former United captain possesses the qualities needed to succeed at the club.
Writing for The Telegraph, he highlighted Neville’s deep connection with the club, strong personality, and business acumen as reasons why he could thrive as a manager.
“Neville would still be the best man for the job. He has Manchester United blood running through his veins. He is deeply hurt by the club’s present predicament,” Lynam wrote. “He has a powerful personality and would be a strong presence in the dressing room.”
Neville, however, has since become the face of Sky Sports’ football punditry scene and has repeatedly distanced himself from a return to management.
Amorim Under Pressure
With United’s inconsistent form causing frustration among fans, speculation over Amorim’s future is already growing.
Lynam argues that United supporters lack confidence in the Portuguese manager, fearing he may follow in the footsteps of his unsuccessful predecessors since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
Neville has remained focused on his broadcasting and business ventures, but the prospect of him taking the United job—however unlikely—would be quite something.
