Man Utd 'up for sale' as under-fire owners the Glazers begin process to seek new buyers

Manchester United could be sold after 17 years under the ownership of the Glazers amid increasing fan pressure from the Red Devils faithful.

The Glazer family are reportedly plotting to to formally announce their intention to examine external sources of investment which could in turn prompt an all-out bidding war for the Premier League giants.

As per Sky News, investment bankers have been asked to advise and oversee the process which is widely expected to spark a full-scale or at least partial sale. One of the bankers involved is reported to have claimed a statement from the Glazers could come soon clarifying their stance.

By announcing a review of the financial options they have at their disposal, the Glazers will prompt a plethora of reports speculating over the club's sale.

The news comes just hours after United confirmed their most high-profile player Cristiano Ronaldo will leave the club with immediate effect after his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan, during which he took aim at everyone from manager Erik ten Hag to the Glazers themselves.

Ronaldo was brutal in his explanation of why he feels the Glazers have failed in their reign as owners, telling Piers Morgan Uncensored: "The owners, the Glazers, they don't care about the club. I mean, professional sport.

"As you know, Manchester is a marketing club. They'll get their money from the marketing. The sports... they don't really care, in my opinion."

Pressed for comment on whether he personally has ever communicated with the Glazers, he replied: "Never. Never. They give all their power to the president and sporting directive. The fans should know the truth. They should know that the players want the best for the club.

"I want the best for the club, this is why I came to Manchester United, and I love this club. But we have some things in the club which don't help Manchester [United] reach the top level as City, Liverpool, and even now Arsenal, which makes it complicated and difficult.

"In my opinion, it will be hard for Manchester [United] to be at the top of the game in the next two or three years."

Recent reports have suggested that any figure between £5bn and £9bn could inspire the Glazers into a full sale. That would be a significant increase on the fee fellow big-six side Chelsea were sold for earlier this year when Roman Abramovich's reign came to an end and the Todd Boehly-era begun.

Most match-weeks at Old Trafford there are often banners proudly held by United supporters that read: 'Love United, hate Glazer'. Their relationship with supporters suffered irreperable damage following the European Super League debacle in April of last year.
