Manchester United are said to be unhappy with Brandon Williams after a social media outburst following the Champions League final.
A post appeared on the left-back’s Instagram page shortly after fierce rivals Manchester City had secured the Treble by winning their first-ever European crown. Pep Guardiola’s side overcame Italian giants Inter Milan 1-0 in Istanbul - Rodri’s second-half strike proving enough for City.
The victory in Turkey ended the club’s long wait for a European crown, whilst it also ensured that they matched United in becoming just one of two English clubs in history to have won the Treble. The Red Devils previously achieved the feat back in 1999.
A post on Williams’ account in the aftermath of the victory read: “Nobody wants a sloppy seconds”. It was also accompanied by three devil emojis.
The former Norwich loanee's account also fired a dig at United icon Rio Ferdinand, who was working as a pundit for BT Sport during the final. A post read: "@rioferdy5 Bet you don't congratulate if you was [sic] player keep the same morals. too face is boring. You don't praise simple as. Fakessssssssss for [money emoji]."
United have now responded to the posts on Williams’ accounts and are reportedly not best pleased. According to ESPN, the club have made an active effort to distance themselves from the comments, with United left "disappointed”.

It is also suggested that the comments were “not welcomed” by senior figures at Old Trafford. Amid United’s response, the comments are not expected to affect Treble-winners Manchester City who will host a parade through the streets in front of supporters on Monday evening.
Williams, a Red Devils academy graduate, has made 51 appearances for the club since breaking through into the first team during the 2019/20 campaign. However, he has seen opportunities completely dry up throughout the past few seasons.
Following an indifferent loan spell with Norwich, he was only afforded a solitary appearance by Erik ten Hag - that coming in the form of a five-minute cameo in a 2-0 victory over Burnley in the Carabao Cup back in December.
He could leave Old Trafford sooner rather than later. Williams has just a year remaining on his current contract and is among a clutch of players that the Red Devils would be open to selling this summer.
He could be joined by the likes of fellow academy graduates Dean Henderson and Scott McTominay in bidding farewell. The pair have been linked with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle respectively ahead of the transfer window opening.
