Man Utd transfer round-up: United in ‘pole position’ for Martinez as Malacia issue ‘resolved’

Manchester United are due to fly out to Bangkok for their pre-season tour next week but are determined to have deals completed for both Frenkie de Jong and Tyrell Malacia before they do so, as the ball finally begins to roll for the Red Devils in the summer transfer window.

However, after reports of a representation issue for Malacia, it has now been revealed that the matter has been ‘resolved’, in what was a minor bump in the road to completing a deal. Elsewhere, the Red Devils are said to have taken ‘pole position’ for Lisandro Martinez.

Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of Old Trafford…

Malacia issue ‘resolved’

Feyenoord left back Tyrell Malacia is due to become one of Manchester United ’s first signings of the summer transfer window alongside Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, but a slight hiccup in getting a deal over the line occurred, according to a report from The Athletic.

It was reported that the deal was being complicated by an issue surrounding Malacia's representation in the proposed deal, involving his agent and his father, which had to be resolved before a deal could go through.

But according to the Manchester Evening News, the issue has now been resolved and senior United sources insist there is "no problem" with the deal. The transfer has not been affected by the sudden issue on the player's side, which is expected to be finalised “in the coming days".

United take ‘pole position’ for Martinez

Manchester United’s pursuit of Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez continues and after it was believed that Arsenal were well positioned to strike up a deal to bring the Argentine to north London this summer, the latest reports have now revealed that the Red Devils are in ‘pole position’ for the centre-back.

That is according to the Daily Mail, despite United not yet submitting an official bid for the defender. Ajax are holding out for around £45 million for the 24-year-old, of which Arsenal themselves are yet to meet despite submitting three separate bids so far.

The Gunners’ highest bid is reported to have reached £35m, which is still some way off from what the Eredivisie champions are requesting, but now United have it in their hands, if reports are to be believed, to get a deal over the line for Erik ten Hag’s top defensive transfer target.

Neymar’s agents make ‘contact’

Football superstar and Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is currently being linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 champions this summer after it was revealed that both parties would be open to a move for the Brazilian ahead of next season.

With it being suggested that the French giants could be willing to let Neymar go this summer, an eye-opening report from 90min has revealed that United have been touted as a possible destination and suggested that the club have been contacted by Neymar's agents.

With United’s limited transfer budget this summer, it is highly unlikely that a deal for Neymar would be completed, especially due to his astronomical wage demands, while it can’t be imagined that the former Barcelona man would want UEFA Europa League football over the Champions League.
