Manchester United are licking their wounds after suffering a bruising 3-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal on Sunday.
Erik ten Hag’s side took the lead in north London through Marcus Rashford ’s powerful strike from distance before Eddie Nketiah headed in an equaliser. Bukayo Saka curled into the bottom corner for 2-1, but Lisandro Martinez produced a diving header to level things once more.
Nketiah then produced the match-winning moment in the 90th minute by flicking home a loose ball to down United. They have returned to Carrington having taken one point from a possible six in London after Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.
Money is tight at Old Trafford – as shown by the loan deal for Wout Weghorst – but the club aren’t standing still, with eight days left in the January transfer window. Here are the latest rumours surrounding the club.
Chase on for Brazilian wonderkid
Manchester United are among the clubs chasing Athletico Paranaense wonderkid Vitor Roque, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Roque is just 17 years old, but has already made 52 senior appearances for Athletico, registering 13 goals and four assists.
Paris Saint-Germain are also sniffing around the young forward – but there could be a hitch. He reportedly has a whopping £52.5million release clause, meaning negotiations could prove tough to bring him to Europe.
Pellistri loan timeline
Facundo Pellistri made his United debut at long last earlier this month, coming off the bench to set up a goal in the 3-0 win over Charlton.
The breakthrough has been followed by a lot of noise from the young Uruguayan’s camp, with his agent suggesting he wants to leave to get more game time.
United initially wanted to keep the 20-year-old, but are reportedly now considering the possibility of sending him on a third loan. He has previously spent time at Alaves and is attracting strong attention from Valencia, as well as a few clubs in Italy, although Brazilian side Flamengo are no longer interested.
Right-back missed
United have considered the possibility of signing a right-back in the January transfer window, but that is looking less and less likely with every passing day.
With Diogo Dalot out injured, Aaron Wan-Bissaka started against Arsenal and drew harsh criticism from Roy Keane for his performance.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said United were interested in signing Josip Juranovic from Celtic, with Ten Hag still not convinced by Wan-Bissaka.
However, that is not an option anymore, with Juranovic sealing a transfer to Union Berlin on Sunday. The Croatia international, 27, has left Scotland for the side who sit fifth in the Bundesliga.
