Man Utd transfer round-up: Mason Mount ultimatum issued as Inter Milan offer planned

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is hard at work attempting to welcome new faces to Old Trafford.

The Dutchman wants a healthy refresh of the current squad that he has at his disposal as he attempts to restore the Red Devils to their former glory. Despite the current drawn-out takeover process threatening to derail deals, the club’s recruitment team continue to press on.

That has seen a number of players all around Europe linked with making big-money switches to Old Trafford before the window shuts. Here's a look at the latest rumours that have surfaced over the past 24 hours...

Red Devils threaten to leave Mount talks

One of the players the Red Devils have been strongly linked with is Chelsea’s Mason Mount. The midfielder has just a year remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and looks likely to leave his boyhood club.

United have attempted to take advantage of the situation by signing him and have lodged three offers - all of which have been turned down by Chelsea.

Ahead of their third offer being rejected, The Telegraph reported that if the Blues do not accept that bid then United could walk away from negotiations. They would be unwilling to go up to Chelsea’s valuation of closer to £65m due to Mount’s contract situation in West London.

United have been linked with Brighton ’s Moises Caicedo over recent days as a potential alternative.

United eye Onana offer

Whilst talks are ongoing regarding a deal for Mount, it appears that United are set to begin talks with Inter Milan regarding Andre Onana. The former Ajax star has been touted as a potential replacement for David de Gea at Old Trafford should he not sign a new contract.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, a meeting was held between the Red Devils and Onana’s representatives earlier this week. It is reported that a formal offer for his services will be tabled before the end of June.

He only joined the Italian giants last summer as his contract with Ajax expired.

MLS star eyed

Should their deal for Onana also fall by the wayside, United have already put alternative plans in place. According to the Manchester Evening News, they are interested in signing New England Revolution star Djordje Petrovic.

He is also the target of a number of Premier League clubs but the Red Devils already have his role identified. The 23-year-old Serbian would initially be drafted in as a deputy, with Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson expected to be on their way out of the club this summer.
