Man Utd transfer round-up: Frenkie de Jong saga over as Adrien Rabiot demand made

Manchester United's summer transfer window continues to stumble, with the Red Devils struggling to bring in Erik ten Hag 's top targets.

A move for Frenkie de Jong looks to be dead in the water, with United identifying Adrien Rabiot as an alternative to the Dutchman. The Red Devils are continuing to negotiate over a deal with Juventus for the Frenchman, who looks set to become Ten Hag's fourth signing of the summer.

Reinforcements are also desperately needed in attack, with the saga around Cristiano Ronaldo continuing and Anthony Martial injured. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest United transfer news.

Manchester United have been left shocked after Juventus reportedly demanded Anthony Martial in return for Adrien Rabiot. The Red Devils are trying to bring in Rabiot as they desperately seek to boost their options in midfield.

But according to Sky Italia's Di Marzio, Juve have left United 'stunned' by requesting Martial come to Turin as part of the deal. The attacker has been on the Serie A side's radar for some time, with United's move for Rabiot handing them a potential opening.

Massimiliano Allegri is said to be seeking for firepower up-front, with the Juve boss setting his sights on Martial. Juve would likely have to pay a fee in return for the Frenchman, given his contract still has another two years to run.

Sarr boost received

Manchester United have received a major boost to their hopes of signing Watford star Ismailia Sarr. Sarr has re-emerged as a target for the Red Devils as they search for reinforcements in attack.

Reports in France this week named Leeds United as one of their possible rivals for his signature. But the Yorkshire Evening Post has now claimed that Sarr is not on the Whites' radar.

It is stated that Jesse Marsch has already signed Luis Sinisterra this summer, with the winger considered to be the replacement for the departed Raphinha. Though Ian Poveda is expected to leave Elland Road, Sarr is not seen as a target at this time.

United 'give up' on De Jong

Manchester United are set to end their pursuit of Barcelona Frenkie de Jong following a summer-long transfer saga. De Jong had been Erik ten Hag's top target for the summer window, with Barca keen to move him off their wage bill.

But with De Jong unwilling to link back up with Ten Hag, the Daily Mail report that United will finally give up their chase for the Dutchman. A 'frustrated' Ten Hag is said to be resigned to missing out on the midfielder, with United having a growing sense they will fail to bring in his number one target.

The chances of United being able to sign De Jong are 'hanging by a thread' with the Red Devils turning their focus to other targets. But the news is a body-blow to Ten Hag, who had been desperate to build his team around De Jong.
