Man Utd transfer round-up: Cody Gakpo addresses future as Red Devils line up January bid

Despite spending big in the summer, Manchester United are set for another busy window in January, with Erik ten Hag keen to further overhaul his squad.

Reinforcements in attack and midfield are needed if United are to continue their turnaround under the Dutchman. Cody Gakpo would appear to be Ten Hag's top target for the winter window, but the attacker is being eyed by many of Europe's leading clubs.

The PSV Eindhoven star was linked with a move to the Red Devils during the summer and United will reignite that interest next month. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Manchester United transfer news.

Gakpo addresses future

Cody Gakpo has insisted his full focus is on helping the Netherlands to World Cup success, amid intense speculation over his future. Gakpo has scored three goals to help them reach the quarter-finals and has made it clear his focus is not on any future move.

"I’m not thinking about that now. I’m just really focused on the tournament, trying to keep performing well and helping the team and hopefully when we become world champion then I can think about that," Gakpo said.

"I’m just trying to keep focused and the other players don’t really talk about those things which also helps me in this situation."

Napoli are battling to keep hold of Kim Min-jae amid mounting interest from Manchester United. Min-jae has impressed for South Korea as they reached the Last 16 of the World Cup, attracting the eye of the Red Devils.

According to Calciomercato, United have joined Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in a three-way transfer battle for the 26-year-old. But Napoli are keen to keep hold of the defender and it is said that they will now attempt to hand him a new contract.

He currently has a £38million release clause in his deal, though that expires on July 15. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is thought to be keen to renew that contract and cancel the release clause, in order to negate the chances of it being activated.

Red Devils set for January swoop

Manchester United will reportedly make a move for Cody Gakpo in the January window amid mounting interest in the 23-year-old. He has scored 12 goals and notched 14 assists for PSV Eindhoven so far this season.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils will make their move for the attacker next month, with PSV ready to sell. The Eredivisie side have set a £50m price tag on the Netherlands international, with his contract not expiring until 2026.

Though United are yet to start talks with PSV, Gakpo shares the same agent as Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag meaning a deal is expected to be agreed quickly. Gakpo has assurances he will be allowed to leave if United are willing to pay PSV's asking price.
