Man Utd tipped to offer Anthony Martial to Tottenham in Harry Kane transfer swap deal

Tottenham have been told that Manchester United have the means to seriously test their resolve over Harry Kane. The striker is the centre of the attention at the moment as he closes in on becoming the club's all-time record scorer but also enters the last 18 months of his contract.

Kane is now level with club legend Jimmy Greaves and knows that just one more strike will take him into uncharted territory. He is also on 199 Premier League goals. However, as is always the case with Kane, his lack of tangible success makes him the target for transfer speculation.

Although football.london understands he is willing to negotiate a new contract - his deal runs out in 2024 having signed his last extension in 2018 - he will undoubtedly continue to be linked with moves away from North London.

Bayern Munich are in need of a centre-forward after Robert Lewandowski's departure last summer whereas Manchester United have always appeared to be in the mix as a leading English club. Even at 29 Kane is still a target for both clubs and Ian Wright thinks that Erik ten Hag's men could test the waters with a tempting offer.

"If Man United came now, Harry Kane with a year left, let's say they put £60million on the table and we'll throw in someone - Martial, whatever - it's a very good deal," the former Arsenal man told his Wrighty's House podcast.

"If Man United have got any serious thinking about what we need to do next, it's a No.9. It seems like a no-brainer that Harry Kane is the person. He takes them somewhere else."

United have loaned in Wout Weghorst for the remainder of the season and will be in the market for a new forward in the summer after Cristiano Ronaldo's contract was terminated in December. Spurs themselves haven't got a true backup for Kane with Richarlison the next closest thing but the Brazilian is yet to score in the league this season.

Martial, 27, was loaned out for part of last year after falling down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has 18-months left on his own deal. He has only scored three times in the league this season - two against Manchester City back in October - but has been reduced to substitute appearances despite Ronaldo's departure.

He has also struggled with injury and is in need of a spark to reignite his career having only netted eight league goals in the past three seasons.

Kane, who has shown loyalty to Tottenham, will have a big decision to make and amid the uncertain future of Conte and unrest from supporters it will be a testing summer for Daniel Levy should substantial offers come in for the England captain.
