Man Utd stars in line for eye-watering bonus if they can land historic quadruple

Manchester United are on a roll under Erik ten Hag – and their success could see them rake in huge amounts through generous bonuses in the coming months.

United ended a six-year wait for silverware when they beat Newcastle 2-0 at Wembley to win the Carabao Cup on Sunday. The outpouring of emotion from the United players showed just how much the victory meant to them, and they are still in contention to win a further three trophies this season.

Ten Hag’s side are third in the Premier League and remain in both the Europa League and FA Cup. That means that, although unlikely, a historic quadruple is still on the cards at the moment.

United probably don’t need any more motivation to add to their trophy haul, but the Daily Mail reports that the players could take home £485,000 each in bonuses if they add the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup to the Carabao Cup by the end of the season.

The report states that stars like Marcus Rashford and Casemiro have already earned £65,000 for the Wembley win and other competitions are even more lucrative. Victory in the FA Cup and Europa League is reportedly worth £85,000 each to the players, while the Premier League would net them a staggering £250,000.

United are in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where they will face Fulham at Old Trafford on March 18, while they have a two-legged last-16 tie with Real Betis on the horizon in Europe this month. They are third in the Premier League, 11 points adrift of leaders Arsenal, although United do have a game in hand on the Gunners.

Their current position owes a lot to Ten Hag, who has overseen a transformation from the ramshackle squad which finished sixth in the Premier League, fell in the third round of the Carabao Cup, the fourth round of the FA Cup and the last-16 of the Champions League last season.

According to the bookies, United’s players have a good chance of taking home some eye-catching bonuses this season. After knocking out Barcelona in the previous round, they are favourites for the Europa League and second favourites for the FA Cup, behind rivals Manchester City, who have drawn Burnley in the quarter-finals after thrashing Bristol City 3-0 earlier this week.

Ten Hag is aiming to create history at United, who have never won both domestic cups in the modern era. They are hoping to follow in the footsteps of Arsenal (1993), Liverpool (2001 and 2022), Chelsea (2007) and Manchester City (2019).

United are on an 11-game unbeaten run across all competitions going into Sunday’s Premier League game against Liverpool at Anfield.

They required two late goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Fred to down West Ham 3-1 and seal their passage through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Wednesday night.
