Man Utd stars and partners arrive at training ground amid increased security concerns

Several Manchester United players opted to bring their families to Friday’s training session as they prepare for this weekend’s clash with West Ham.

United are looking to make it two wins in the space of four days when they host Hammers, having overcome Brentford 3-1 on Wednesday.

That result helped to quieten some of the claims of dressing room disillusionment under interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

There had been reports of cliques forming amongst the richly assembled squad, with suggestions some had been left less than impressed by the German’s training methods.

However, while it was a positive night on the pitch, there was a concerning development regarding Victor Lindelof, who saw his home burgled during the away win.

Lindelof’s wife Maja Nilsson-Lindelof, revealed there was a break-in at their family home where she was forced, along with her two children, to lock themselves in another room.

Ralf Rangnick confirmed that the Swede would be out of action this weekend, with Maja adding that they would now spend time with their families.

"I spoke with him at length on our flight back home from London and also this morning," Rangnick explained. "We spoke for 20 or 25 minutes, he told me what actually happened, that this was a traumatic event, especially for his wife and three-year-old son.

"He said to me right now he needs to stay at home, he doesn't want to leave his wife and family on their own, which I can fully understand, being a father of two children myself.

"We agreed he will not be on duty tomorrow for the game."

Mrs Lindelof offered an update on social media on Friday: “During Victor’s game this Wednesday night, we had a break-in at our house in Manchester. “I was at home alone with both the kids but we managed to hide and lock ourselves in a room before they entered our house.

“We are okay under the circumstances but it was obviously a very traumatic and scary moment for both me and my little kids.

“We are now in Sweden and are spending some time off with our families.”

Following Friday’s session at Carrington, one source told Mirror Sport that partners and family will be accompanying players to the hotel.

United often spend the evening before games at Old Trafford in a city centre hotel, before making their way to the stadium in time for kick-off.

Another player whose involvement remains in doubt is Jadon Sancho, who missed the win over the Bees due to a bereavement in the family and attending a funeral.

Sancho hadn’t trained on Thursday, but was expected to return for the final session but that may come too late for Saturday’s game.

"He didn't train yesterday because he still asked us to not train," Rangnick said. "He attended a funeral on Wednesday, it still affected him quite a lot.

"He is expected back to training this afternoon at three o'clock, but right now I'm not sure if he will be available for the game tomorrow.

“I have to wait and see, speak to him before training and after training and take the decision."
