Man Utd squad's firm response as players told to 'grow up' after dressing room leaks

Manchester United's togetherness was on display against Leeds after they were told to 'grow up' following a series of dressing room leaks.

There have been continuous claims of disharmony within the United squad this season with suggestions that the players have shown a lack of respect towards the coaching staff.

The latest leak from the Red Devils camp is that Chris Armas, one of Ralf Rangnick's assistants, was compared to comedy TV football manager Ted Lasso, played by fellow American Jason Sudeikis

Gary Neville hit out at those responsible as he slammed the 'disgusting and disrespectful nature of the comments.

Former Man City defender Micah Richards was in agreement with his fellow Sky Sports pundit as he told the United squad to "grow up."

Speaking about the leaks in his Daily Mail colum, he said: "The dressing room should be the most secure place a footballer can spend time professionally, somewhere that issues of trust should never be doubted.

"So the idea that things could leak out of a dressing room — and be detrimental to your own club — is a concept I cannot get my head around.

"It is why I am flabbergasted by the constant cycle of news that keeps coming out of Manchester United, one that consistently puts them in a bad light.

"Whoever has come up with that [Armas/Lasso comparison] will think it is funny but, really, it is beyond a joke.

"It is totally disrespectful and says more about them than it does Armas.

" Manchester United stars need to grow up and stop leaks coming from the dressing room.

"If I had been in a dressing room where someone was known to be the source of negative stories, I would have had zero respect for them.

"I wracked my brains to see if there was an example of something I could use as a parallel but nothing came to mind.

"That tells me I was blessed to be in places where we knew the importance of sticking together.

"You do not undermine a manager or his staff, you do not invite criticism to your door. If this season is going to be turned around, United’s squad would do well to remember those golden rules."

The comments about Armas attempted to disrupt United's preparations for their Premier League clash against Leeds at Elland Road, but they were able to shut out the noise with an impressive 4-2 win.

Rangnick's men were in cruise control as Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes gave the visitors a 2-0 lead at halftime.

But they had to show their mettle when Rodrigo and Raphinha turned the game on its head with two quick-fire goals to start the second half.

It looked it was going to be the same old story for United this season as they have let leads slip on several occasions.

The momentum had shifted, but they steadied the ship and didn't let their heads drop.

Rangnick made some inspiring changes as Fred restored their lead with an emphatic finish before Anthony Elanga wrapped up the three points with an 88th-minute goal to secure the 4-2 victory.

The Red Devils could have easily let their off-field issues seep into this afternoon's proceedings but they used it as fuel to prove they are doing their best to stamp out the toxic culture which is currently plaguing the club.
