Man Utd sent Harry Kane message after Tottenham striker addresses transfer rumours

Manchester United have been told they "need" a striker like Tottenham talisman Harry Kane and that the England captain would drastically improve the Red Devils' dressing room.

The claim was made by a man who knows all about what it takes to score goals for United in former Old Trafford favourite Louis Saha, who has predicted that centre-forward will be an area of the team boss Erik ten Hag tries to strengthen in the next summer transfer window.

When it comes to who he might target, Spurs star Kane has been touted as an option. While he would not come cheap, United have already proven they are willing to spend big under Ten Hag, given they forked out £220million during the Dutchman's first transfer window at the helm.

With that in mind, it could be essential for United's budget next summer that they manage to secure qualification to the Champions League this season. Any other situation would, at least in theory, seriously restrict the kind of business they would be able to do.

Kane has been very close to a move to Manchester once before, to ply his trade for United's local rivals City, but a deal failed to materialise and Pep Guardiola's side eventually opted to pursue and sign Erling Haaland the following summer.

He now has under two years left to run on the deal that ties him to Spurs and by the time next summer's transfer window rolls around it would mark the final chance Antonio Conte's side would have of securing a worthy fee for his departure.

Though City led the charge for his signature last time around, United also have a long-standing interest in Kane and Saha has explained why the deal would suit Ten Hag's side.

"Of course, Kane would be a great signing for United," Saha told Compare.Bet. "He could go anywhere in the world and he would shine. I would be very happy with him at United, because United need the kind of composure Kane has up front."

Kane isn't usually one to discuss his club future, but when speculation started linking him with a move to Bayern Munich earlier this season, the striker took the step of addressing the rumours head-on as he suggested interest from the German giants was flattering.

"I'm focused on Tottenham Hotspur and trying to do my best for us," Kane explained. "For sure, Bayern are a top, top club, but all my concentration is on Tottenham and trying to win tomorrow night."

The 29-year-old has enjoyed a sensational start to this season that has in truth gone under the radar given the ludicrous exploits of Haaland, but Kane still has eight goals in nine league games.
