Man Utd's 'laughable' decision sparks Nottingham Forest transfer demand

Nottingham Forest supporters have been asking for James Garner to return to the City Ground, after he was left out of Manchester United's squad for their pre-season victory over Melbourne Victory.

The central midfielder is back with Erik ten Hag's side after impressing for the Reds last season as they earned promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years.

United boss ten Hag had suggested the 21-year-old would be assessed during pre-season ahead of a decision on his future. However, he was not named for a second straight fixture as the Red Devils defeated Australian side Melbourne 4-1 thanks to goals from Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and an own goal.

With Steve Cooper still in search of a midfielder, Forest fans have called for the return of the Englishman. One spectator went as far to suggest that Garner looked more suited to the top flight than any other Forest player. Here is what they have had to say:

@AthleticEndura: Garner not in the 27 man squad for @ManUtd friendly against Melbourne. Jimmy get back Trent side son, you're clearly not appreciated at United.

@Callum_Burditt: No Jimmy Garner again! Get it done

@Richpearson32: Still no Garner. Come on Forest, make your move!

@Forest_Review: No Jimmy Garner in the Manchester United squad again today

@kevward3: Need to sign him up. He was pivotal for us last season and looked more Premiership ready than anyone else in the squad

@MattyNFFC23: Laughable how Garner doesn't get in that squad, bring him home
