Man Utd's Cristiano Ronaldo booted goalpost in frustration after Jadon Sancho decision

Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo could not hide his fury and lashed out at the goalpost after Jadon Sancho chose not to pass to him.

The incident came during the sixth minute of Tuesday night's Premier League clash with Brighton as United searched for the opening goal against a resilient Seagulls outfit.

Ronaldo, 37, pounced on an error from Adam Webster and fed Sancho in the box with a nifty back-heel which sent the winger through on goal.

The Portugal captain then motioned for his English teammate to return the favour with a cut-back as he burst towards the six-yard box hoping for a simple close-range finish.

However, Sancho opted to shoot and Ronaldo was visibly livid after the effort was easily repelled by Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was spotted booting the post after the Seagulls cleared the danger, showing just how frustrated he was with his fellow summer arrival.

Ronaldo went into the match having failed to score in his previous six appearances, meaning he was in the midst of his longest goal drought in 13 years.

Fortunately for the former Real Madrid and Juventus striker, he put an end to his lengthy wait early in the second half with a deadly finish to open the scoring.

It proved to be the decisive goal in the match, with Bruno Fernandes adding a second to put the game to bed deep into added time.

United were helped on their way by Lewis Dunk's sending off in the 54th minute, following a lengthy VAR check, after the defender brought down Anthony Elanga.

Ronaldo posted a rousing message for his teammates in the immediate aftermath of the match, writing on Twitter : "Back on track! Nobody gives up and there's only one way to get back on track: hard work, team work, serious work.

"Everything else is just noise. Let's go Devils!"

While Ronaldo's desire to get back on the scoresheet was evident with his bitter reaction to Sancho's shot, it was not the first time he has struggled to contain his emotions this season.

He fumed with Marcus Rashford after the Englishman misplaced a pass during the clash with Newcastle in late December, prompting criticism from Old Trafford legend Gary Neville.

"We talk about body language. We talked about it early in the season when Ronaldo ran off at the end of the Everton game," Neville told Sky Sports.

"He's run off again tonight. He ran off at Watford when everyone knew the manager was going to get the sack. And at Norwich."

Further, Ronaldo took no time to thank the travelling fans after the 1-1 draw with Burnley last week and simply ran for the tunnel at the full-time whistle.
