Donny van de Beek still appears to have a Manchester United future as the club reportedly refuse to include an option to buy within his loan deal to Everton.
The Old Trafford outcast is on the verge of joining the Toffees for the remainder of the season despite appearing all but set to be heading for Crystal Palace.
The Dutchman is believed to have decided upon on Goodison Park as his preferred destination on Sunday, amid suggestions incoming manager Frank Lampard pushed to secure the midfielder's signature.
Having been scarcely used by United again this season, Van de Beek looks set to finally be granted his wish of ending his Manchester nightmare, though for the time being only.
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils rejected Everton's proposal of including a clause within the midfielder's loan deal which would allow the Merseysiders to purchase him should he impress during the second half of the campaign.
Despite United denying Van de Beek a single Premier League start so far this term, the club clearly still believe he will play a part in their future and game-time under Lampard, one of the greatest midfielders in the league's illustrious history, is hoped to be of significant benefit.
For the 24-year-old, the move has been a long time coming, having seen a deal to head to Goodison Park fall through last summer, which resulted in the sacking of his agent.
This time around, it appears as though negotiations have been far more successful, with Everton reportedly willing to pay a £500,000 loan fee and cover all of the player's £100,000-per-week wages.
Van de Beek joined United in a high-profile £40million move from Ajax in the summer of 2020, but despite recently raking up his 50th appearance for the club, has seen a mere 579 minutes of Premier League action across two seasons, which equates to fewer than seven full matches.
It initially appeared as though Van de Beek would once again be left seething after seeing another move away from Old Trafford denied following comments made by Ralf Rangnick only a few weeks ago.

United's interim manager expressed his desire to retain the Dutchman this month, however with an Everton loan deal nearing its conclusion, the German seemingly had a change of heart.
“I’m glad to have him in the squad,” Rangnick said of Van de Beek recently. "He’s always performing on a high level in training.
"For him, I have a conversation two weeks ago after training exactly about that.
“I told him I would advise him to stay until the end of the season.
"Then, of course, with the World Cup coming up in winter, he wants to play in the World Cup for his country and Louis van Gaal obviously told him that in order to be a regular starter for the World Cup, he needs to regularly play for his team.
“I can understand his desire to play, on the other hand, we have a lot of competition in our squad in exactly those positions.”
