Lisandro Martinez has had such a stellar debut season at Manchester United that the Red Devils are set to hand the Argentine a significant pay rise to secure his future.
The defender's first two games in English football sparked widespread criticism from fans and pundits alike, many of whom deemed Martinez too small to cut it in the Premier League.
He has quickly seen to that particular criticism and established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
United parted ways with just shy of £60million to land Martinez's signature from Ajax and had to fend off interest from Arsenal in the process. Currently, the World Cup winner pockets £120,000-a-week at Old Trafford.
However, those at the top of the United hierarchy are keen on rewarding Martinez by offering him an improved wage package that would increase his earnings by £50,000.
While a pay increase is imminent, there are no plans to get Martinez to pen a new deal given his current contract does not expire for another four years.
It is believed that manager Erik ten Hag has welcomed the idea as a way of recognising how important Martinez to the United squad.

The Red Devils have been without their star defender in recent weeks, after Martinez was ruled out for the remainder of the season when he broke a metatarsal during the 2-2 Europa League draw against Real Betis last month.
Martinez has already sealed his place in the the hearts of the United faithful and this wage increase is a reflection of the Argentine's fantastic season, despite the injury set-back.
Speaking after news of his season-ending injury, Martinez took to Instagram to update fans as he wrote: "Not the way I imagined what’s been a very special season would end, but sometimes we face obstacles along the way that we have to overcome to make us stronger and we learn from them.
"I know that I’ll be back soon to go for more. In the meantime, I’ll continue to support my team-mates to achieve our objectives.
"The messages and support I’ve received has been amazing, they’re giving me strength and encouragement. Thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart."
Martinez will be aiming to kick on and improve even further next term as United aim to mount a title charge next term, though his team-mate's full focus will surely be on securing Champions League qualification this season.
