Man Utd raise Dean Henderson transfer doubts amid Nottingham Forest talks

Dean Henderson's "situation may change" if Manchester United do not agree a new deal with David de Gea or sign a replacement goalkeeper, it is claimed.

The shot-stopper impressed during his loan spell at the City Ground last season having made important saves for the Reds earlier in the campaign before picking up a season-ending injury in January.

It is his performances in the first few months of the 2022/23 season which have led the club to try and sign him this summer, as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping department with Wayne Hennessey currently the Reds' only senior keeper.

But The Athletic have put talk over a permanent move in doubt due to the situation with United's current No. 1 De Gea. The Spaniard is yet to agree a new deal at Old Trafford and could leave the Red Devils this summer.

It is the doubts over De Gea and whether United will find a replacement which leads to question marks over whether Forest will be able to sign Henderson this summer. But it should be noted that the report states that he remains one of United's "more sellable assets," meaning he would raise significant funds if sold.

There are also question marks over Henderson's relationship with the Red Devils and manager Erik ten Hag after one report claimed that he has had "an uneasy couple of years with his parent club."

It is also claimed "there is next to no indication he is under consideration for a promotion to No.1," which would surely signal an end to his time at Old Trafford, although this may still depend on the future of De Gea.
