Man Utd predicted line-up as changes made for Champions League clash vs Atletico Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo will hoping to be inspire Manchester United once more as he renews his rivalry with Atletico Madrid.

The forward enjoyed huge success against the Spanish outfit when he was a player at Real Madrid.

Now, buoyed from his hat-trick against Tottenham at the weekend, the Portuguese star will again be hoping to be his side's match winner.

Ralf Rangnick restored the 37-year-old to the starting XI after he missed the Manchester derby.

Ronaldo is set to be supported in attack by Jadon Sancho, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes. It was Sancho who laid on Ronaldo to score his second at the weekend.

Anthony Elanga scored United's equaliser in Madrid but is expected to be an option from the bench, with Marcus Rashford also likely to miss out on the starting XI.

Raphael Varane is set to partner Harry Maguire in defence with Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles either side of them.

Telles has enjoyed plenty of game time in recent months with Luke Shaw absent but the England left-back is back, although he may not be risked.

Rangnick said: "As it is right now, we have all the players available for the game tomorrow. There is a small question mark behind Luke Shaw.

"He has been training yesterday and today but we have to wait to see if he is fully fit to be available for the game.

"All the other players are back in training and ready for tomorrow."

David de Gea will start in goal against his former side.

The Champions League is now United's only chance of silverware this term, or else their drought will extend by a further 12 months.

Two English sides have already made it into the last eight with Chelsea poised to join them. A win for United would see them complete the set.

Their interim boss has called on the Old Trafford crowd to play their part against what is a pragmatic Atletico side, led by Diego Simeone, who have enjoyed memorable European nights on English soil in the past.

The atmosphere is Saturday's win over Tottenham drew comments from Antonio Conte and Rangnick wants to see a repeat on Tuesday.

He said: "It's 1-1, we play at home and we have to make sure that playing at home is an advantage for us. This is what [Spurs boss] Antonio Conte said after the game, it was a very difficult atmosphere.

"As I said, it's one of the biggest compliments that you can get if an opponent's coach speaks after the game of a difficult atmosphere for them, a special atmosphere."
