Man Utd news: Ten Hag told to consider Mount transfer as Lindelof reveals hidden injury

Manchester United return to action for the first time since before international break this weekend when they travel to top four rivals Newcastle.

The Red Devils were last in action when they beat Fulham in the FA Cup. It means they haven't played a Premier League game for almost three weeks, and a defeat at St James' Park will put a major dent in their hopes to secure a Champions League place for next season.

In the meantime, several of United's big-name stars have been on international duty, while the Red Devils continue to be linked with a number of transfers. Mason Mount has been tipped to make the switch to Old Trafford in recent weeks, with Liverpool also linked.

Here is all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Saha on Mount

Louis Saha doesn't believe Mason Mount is good enough walk into Manchester United's starting XI right now - but admitted he would be a decent signing for the Red Devils.

Mount, 24, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford with his Chelsea future firmly in doubt. He has just over a year left on his current deal and a number of Premier League clubs are supposedly keen, including United, Liverpool and Newcastle.

When asked about Mount and a potential move to United, Saha told Betfred: "He's certainly good enough to play for Manchester United, there's no debate about that, but is he good enough to guarantee a place in their starting eleven? No, I don't believe so.

"I don't believe Mason has performed in the way he would have wanted to with Chelsea over the last six months or so and for me, he doesn’t score enough goals or assist enough for a player that has the potential he has.

"The guy can do everything, he's very active, he's very clever and there’s still room for improvement. Bruno Fernandes scores more goals and provides more assists than Mason and they occupy the same position.

"There’s no guarantee that Mason could go to Manchester United and make that number ten position his own. He’s good enough to eventually do that but he would have to work very hard."

Lindelof on hidden injury

Victor Lindelof has revealed he has been playing in a size bigger boots after breaking his toe during Sweden's Nations League game against Slovenia last September.

The Manchester United defender suffered the injury during the 1-1 draw between the two sides at the Friends Arena. However, Lindelof, somehow, didn't miss a game after sustaining the problem.

A week later, he played 50 minutes of United's 6-3 defeat at Manchester City, before also featuring against Omonia Nicosia and Everton.

"I broke my toe in September, and I felt it tightening out there," he said, as relayed by Aftonbladet. "It was with the national team in September. I got a stamp so I broke it. It hurt for a while, I had to take some painkillers. I could play, but only had a size bigger on the shoe."

Man Utd duo could swap nations

Manchester United duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Axel Tuanzebe could switch their international allegiances from England after holding positive talks with DR Congo.

The pair have both made an appearance for the Under 21s set up but have never received a senior cap, meaning they are free to swap nations. Wan-Bissaka is of Congolese descent, while Tuanzebe was born in the city of Bunia.

As per Leopard Football Leader, Congo head coach Sebastien Desabre spoke at length with Wan-Bissaka, while talks have been ongoing for Tuanzebe to move nations.

It is understood Wan-Bissaka has not ruled out the possibility and could accept the offer from Desabre should Congo qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast. Meanwhile, Tuanzebe is keen on swapping nationalities.
