Man Utd news: Sheikh Jassim readies fresh takeover bid amid Harry Kane transfer demand

The international break is now upon us but, of course, the news around Manchester United doesn't stop.

Following Sunday's chaotic 3-1 victory over Fulham to book an FA Cup semi-final clash with Brighton, the focus has turned back to off-the-pitch talking points at Old Trafford. United remain in the process of a sale, with developments reaching a critical stage as Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe continue to battle for a full takeover.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag is plotting his summer transfer business and Harry Kane remains firmly on the agenda - although it won't be easy to sign the England captain. And speaking of the Three Lions, there's perhaps some welcome news for Ten Hag in relation to Gareth Southgate's squad.

Here's a round-up of the latest news from Old Trafford.

Sheikh Jassim ramps up second bid

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is expected to submit his second bid to buy Manchester United on Wednesday evening, Sky Sports report. There's now a growing confidence in his camp that the Glazers will sanction a full sale of the club after meetings with prospective buyers last week.

Qatari banker Al Thani sent a delegation to meet United executives last Thursday, spending 10 hours taking a tour of the club and discussing a potential takeover. Sir Jim Ratcliffe will also lodge a fresh offer, having travelled to Manchester in person on Friday.

Tottenham want £100m for Kane

Manchester United will have to pay an eye-watering £100million to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham this summer - even with one year left on his contract, according to the Times. Erik ten Hag is understood to have earmarked Kane, 29, as his top striker target ahead of the summer transfer window, with Napoli's Victor Osimhen also admired.

Spurs, however, are demanding £100m in one lump sum, as opposed to the kind structural payments seen in most major transfer deals. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also registered their interested in acquiring Kane's services and goalscoring prowess, with the England captain enjoying another terrific individual campaign.

Rashford drops out of England squad

Marcus Rashford has pulled out of the England squad to face Italy and Ukraine in Euro 2024 qualifying this week. The Manchester United forward, 25, picked up a knock during Sunday's win at home to Fulham.

As a result, Rashford didn't travel to St George's Park on Monday to link up with his international team-mates like Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw. Chelsea star Mason Mount and Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope have also dropped out of Gareth Southgate's squad.
