Manchester United will get their hectic October schedule underway this weekend and Erik ten Hag is going to need to utilise his squad depth more than ever in what could be a season defining month for him.
But club legend Paul Scholes has taken aim at United’s transfer policy and recruitment model, stating that Ten Hag will ‘get the blame’ for poor transfers. Elsewhere, a Bologna chief has disputed claims that the Red Devils pulled the plug on Marko Arnautovic’s transfer, while Paul Pogba convinced one of his teammates to leave the club at the start of the year.
Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest stories coming out of Old Trafford.
Scholes slams poor transfer window
Scholes has taken aim at Man United's recruitment model, saying the Red Devils had a poor transfer window and that Ten Hag will eventually be blamed for it.
The Red Devils splashed a club-record amount of cash over the summer with new boss Ten Hag bringing in six new signings: Antony, Casemiro, Martin Dubravka, Christian Eriksen, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez.

Bologna chief bites back over Arnautovic transfer
Bologna director of football Marco Di Vaio has claimed it was Arnautovic that pulled the plug on his move to United - and not the other way around.
It is believed United saw a bid in the region of £8million knocked back for Arnautovic, before the pursuit was shelved. Following the collapse, sources from the United side claimed they completed a U-turn due to a vociferous backlash from supporters. Arnautovic has twice been forced to deny allegations of racism, most recently at Euro 2020.
That prompted a number of United fans to email the club directly to outline their opposition to his signing. It was understood that prompted Old Trafford bosses to backtrack on their plans, but Di Vaio has suggested that narrative is false.

Pogba convinced midfielder to leave Man Utd
Donny van de Beek wanted to leave United because Pogba was apparently receiving preferential treatment at Old Trafford, according to his former agent.
Pogba has since left United and joined Juventus on a free. But towards the end of his time with the Red Devils, the Frenchman found himself ahead of Van de Beek in the pecking order - despite suggestions his teammate was more deserving of a place in the starting XI.
Van de Beek's former agent Guido Albers claims the situation became so bad for the Netherlands international, when Pogba was picked to play ahead of him despite allegedly turning up late for training one week, that the midfielder decided it was time to leave.
