Man Utd news: Marcus Rashford's Erik ten Hag verdict as Brighton set Moises Caicedo price

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday as they host West Ham United and their former boss David Moyes.

The visit of the Hammers comes just three days after United’s three-goal victory over FC Sheriff Tiraspol, and ahead of Erik ten Hag’s side trip to Real Sociedad this coming Thursday. The Red Devils will have to win by two goals or more in San Sebastian to avoid a Round of 32 playoff match.

A victory on Sunday would take United up to fifth in the Premier League and with a game in hand over rival teams above them in a congested race for European qualification spots.

Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest stories coming out of Old Trafford ahead of Sunday’s clash.

Marcus Rashford insists he is enjoying the “hard work” in Manchester United ’s training sessions under boss Erik ten Hag.

The striker is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence in form this season under the new United coach and he netted his sixth goal of the campaign in United’s three-goal win over FC Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday night in the Europa League. It was a bullet header from Luke Shaw’s standing cross.

Rashford has been deployed as the main striker in Ten Hag’s 4-3-3 system and has been preferred to Cristiano Ronaldo – who has started just one of the club’s last nine Premier League matches – and Anthony Martial, who has had fitness issues this campaign preventing him from enjoying a run of games.

Seagulls set Caicedo price

Brighton are ready to cash-in on Moises Caicedo – but want an eye-watering £85million for him.

United are among the clubs likely to enter the race for Caicedo – who Newcastle see as an alternative to Youri Tielemans, set to be out of contract at Leicester next summer.

United, in particular, have something of a history with the 20-year-old. The club were pursuing a move for the midfielder ahead of the January 2021 transfer window but backed out a month before. However, they could resurrect interest in a move.

Garnacho contract talks

Manchester United are reportedly in contract talks with Alejandro Garnacho, with the teenager attracting interest from Serie A, though the club are not in any rush over a new deal

The Argentine youngster made his senior debut for United last season under Ralf Rangnick, making appearances from the bench against Chelsea and Crystal Palace. New manager Erik ten Hag opted to keep the 18-year-old around the first-team squad rather than sending him out on loan, and handed him a first start in the 3-0 Europa League victory over FC Sheriff.

Garnacho is under contract at Old Trafford until 2025, so there is no huge urgency over a new contract. However, with Juventus sniffing around, the Premier League side are very aware of the situation facing one of their young stars.
