Manchester United took another step towards a domestic cup double at the weekend as they managed to find a route past Brighton.
The Red Devils downed the Seagulls via a penalty shootout following a less than inspiring performance throughout 90 minutes and a period of extra-time. Whilst United could be celebrating two trophies come the end of the season, they will be aiming to enjoy a better campaign next time.
Ahead of that, it appears that the United hierarchy are putting plans in place for a lucrative splurge in the summer transfer market. Here are the main headlines coming out of Old Trafford over the past 24 hours...
Man Utd kick off Kane pursuit
Man Utd are set to kick-off their chase for Tottenham striker Harry Kane as they attempt to secure a deal for his services this summer. The Red Devils have long been linked with a move for the England captain.
As per The Telegraph, the Red Devils plan to bid for the England captain and are currently conducting their due diligence over what price they might need to pay for his signature in order to prise him from Spurs. United are weighing up an approach so they can seal an early deal to bolster their frontline, but do not want to be dragged into a long-running saga.
Kane has just over 12 months remaining on his contract, with this summer representing Spurs’ last chance to demand a considerable fee for him before they could potentially lose him for nothing next year.

Ten Hag sticks by Wan-Bissaka promise
Red Devils defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has proven Erik ten Hag right by showing he is worthy of a future at Old Trafford.
The former Crystal Palace star looked destined to leave the club earlier this season but has forced himself back into contention. His best performance arguably came in the FA Cup semi-final showdown with Brighton, a display that garnered plenty of praise from United icon Rio Ferdinand.
Meanwhile, Wan-Bissaka has claimed that he always wanted to stay with the Red Devils.
Fernandes emulates Ronaldo
Bruno Fernandes was spotted barking orders at his Man Utd team-mates after being substituted during their FA Cup semi-final win against Brighton on Sunday afternoon.
The Portuguese midfielder was replaced by Wout Weghorst in the 101st minute after a gruelling Wembley cup tie, but he continued to play a role from the touchline by giving advice to his team-mates. It was reminiscent of when Cristiano Ronaldo did the same in the Euro 2016 final, when Portugal defeated France 1-0 in Paris to win their maiden major honour.
