Manchester United can extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to 10 matches tomorrow as Erik ten Hag’s impact on the club begins to shine through.
The Dutchman recruited well over the summer and has instilled belief into the players once more, although there are a number of first team stars who he is facing a losing battle with as they fail to meet the standards required. Elsewhere, Donny van de Beek seems to have been handed a lifeline in his Red Devils career after recently returning to the starting lineup.
Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest stories coming out of Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag facing transfer dilemma
Ten Hag is facing a losing battle in succeeding with a number of players who were signed before his appointment at Old Trafford this summer.
Although some top signings have been brought in and various first team stars have revived their careers this season, there are still those who are not pulling their weight, with about £250million worth of talent either underperforming, exiled out on loan elsewhere or even gone for good.
Harry Maguire has arguably had the worst season of his career at Old Trafford, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is almost a forgotten man. Van de Beek is still yet to prove why he was signed, while Alex Telles and Dan James have been shipped out despite costing the club a combined £30m.

Donny van de Beek handed unlikely lifeline
Dutch midfielder Van de Beek has failed to turn his season around under Ten Hag but his luck might finally be starting to change.
Van de Beek has struggled to impress his compatriot since his arrival in the summer, while injury has kept him out of action for almost a month as his luck goes from bad to worse. However, a rare start against Real Sociedad in midweek may have changed things.
Bruno Fernandes is suspended for the trip to Aston Villa, which means the Dutchman could very well keep his place in the side. Should he impress at Villa Park on Sunday, Van de Beek may well open up another door to revive his career at Old Trafford this season.

Toni Kroos explains impact of Casemiro absence

The Brazilian formed one of the world’s deadliest midfield trio’s alongside Kroos and Luka Modric, helping the club to five Champions League titles, but departed for a fresh challenge with Man United this summer. So far, he has shown exactly why Ten Hag brought him in.
However, Kroos, who was “surprised and saddened” at Casemiro’s departure in the summer, has revealed that Madrid are less defensively secure following the Brazilian’s exit in a £70m deal in August.
