Erik ten Hag appears set to become the next Manchester United manager after the club's players were told of his imminent appointment.
It means an announcement could also come very shortly as the Ajax boss has been told his transfer budget while also telling the club of his target wishlist ahead of a huge summer overhaul as up to 12 players could leave. The Dutchman is facing a huge rebuilding job upon his arrival at Old Trafford and plenty of new signings are expected to arrive.
But Ten Hag will have the power to veto any signings – meaning he could stop the Red Devils from bringing in a target who has already got the backing of interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick 'tip off' could be vetoed
Erik ten Hag could veto a summer signing who has reportedly been recommended by Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
The German is set to move into a two-year consultancy role at Old Trafford in the summer and it appears he's already been active in recommending new signings to the club. One person he is said to have 'tipped off' United scouts about is RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku.
But Ten Hag is set to be handed the power to waive any new potential signings for United when he arrives at the club – meaning he could turn down a move for Nkunku should he wish to.
Ten Hag's potential announcement date
A potential date for Manchester United to announce Erik ten Hag as their new manager has been revealed.
The club's players have now been told about Ten Hag's imminent arrival ahead of what could be a seismic summer at Old Trafford. The Dutchman's arrival is set to spark a huge summer overhaul of the club and the appointment could be announced in just a matter of days.
And it is expected that a formal announcement could come after Saturday's Premier League trip to Arsenal.
Transfer wishlist revealed
The huge task facing Erik ten Hag when he arrives at Old Trafford has been made perfectly clear – with up to 12 players set to leave the club.
Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Lee Grant are all out of contract this summer while Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Alex Telles, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford could also go to allow Ten Hag to begin his overhaul. Those sales could boost a summer transfer kitty of around £200million, with United eying England duo Harry Kane and Declan Rice as their top targets.
But they also have Benfica striker Darwin Nunes and Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves on their wishlist as cheaper alternatives to Kane and Rice.
