Man Utd news: Diego Simeone sends fans message as legends tell club to 'go and get him'

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has responded to being pelted with drinks after his side knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League with a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.

The Argentine made a hurried exit down the tunnel after the final whistle was blown as fans hurled objects at him, and Simeone has now responded to the incident. It comes as both Paul Scholes and Roy Keane have told their former club to hire Simeone as the next permanent manager at Old Trafford.

And Anthony Martial has responded to reports of friction in the Manchester United dressing room between superstar forward Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates.

Martial responds to Ronaldo claims

Anthony Martial says he "knows what happened" in the Manchester United dressing room amid reports of friction between superstar forward Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates.

Martial left United in the January transfer window as he joined Spanish side Sevilla until the end of the season in order to secure himself more regular first-team football. The Frenchman left United in a state of crisis as the Red Devils have struggled for consistency on the pitch and are now set to go a fifth straight year without silverware after being dumped out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid.

But United's season has not only been dogged by poor form, with reports suggesting a level of discontent behind the scenes among the club's players. And Martial has now lifted a lid on the inner workings of the Manchester United dressing room.

Paul Scholes and Roy Keane both believe Manchester United should "go and get" Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone in the club's hunt for their next permanent manager.

Simeone's Atleti dumped United out of the Champions League on Tuesday night as Renan Lodi’s first-half header secured a 1-0 Old Trafford win and put the Argentine's side into the quarter-finals. And with United on the hunt for their next permanent manager ahead of an appointment this summer, the two United legends have been full of praise for Simeone.

Simeone sends fans message

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has responded to being pelted with objects as he left the pitch at Old Trafford following his side's 1-0 Champions League win.

Simeone rushed down the tunnel after full-time but was targeted by a minority of the home supporters as they threw drinks and other objects in his direction. But the Argentine appeared unfazed by the incident, suggesting he didn't even notice the objects hurled in his direction following the game as he spoke about the battling win.
