Man Utd news: Cristiano Ronaldo's shift in attitude as Ralf Rangnick snub emerges

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have made big changes in the wake of his side's game against Brentford earlier this season.

The Red Devils secured a 3-0 win in their final match at Old Trafford this season, following up the 3-1 win at the Brentford Community Stadium. The January match proved rather controversial for Ronaldo as he failed to hide his emotions when taken off in the 70th minute, and his performance at Old Trafford shows just how that game sparked a change in the Portuguese superstar's attitude this season.

United registered the 3-0 win on Monday night thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane in a match full of talking points. And Ralf Rangnick has revealed incoming United boss Erik ten Hag is yet to pick up the phone to talk to him about what he can expect at Old Trafford.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Manchester United headlines.

Brentford talking points

Old Trafford bid farewell to Ralf Rangnick as Manchester United registered a 3-0 win over Brentford in their final home game of the season.

Bruno Fernandes crashed home the opener in the ninth minute as he turned in Anthony Elanga's cross. Cristiano Ronaldo was then bundled over in the box by Rico Henry in the second half before sending the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot.

And Raphael Varane then scored his first goal in a United shirt as he hooked in from Alex Telles' corner. It was a game full of talking points, including Ronaldo's incredible performance, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata's Old Trafford farewell and more protests against the Glazers' ownership of the club.

Rangnick snub emerges

Erik ten Hag is yet to phone interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick to speak about what he can expect when he arrives at the club this summer.

A huge overhaul of the playing squad is expected in the summer, when Ten Hag will take charge and Rangnick will move into a consultancy role with United. While the pair could end up working together at Old Trafford, Rangnick has revealed that he is yet to speak with Ten Hag and "exchange opinions".

But the interim United boss says he's "pretty sure Ten Hag's got my phone number" and that he's ready to chat whenever the Dutchman wants to.

Ronaldo's shift in attitude

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have changed his approach after being criticised by Ralf Rangnick following Manchester United's win over Brentford earlier this season.

Ronaldo stormed off during the match at the Brentford Community Stadium, snatching a jacket from a member of backroom staff before throwing it to the floor, while refusing to take a seat in the dugout after being taken off. After the game, Rangnick was critical of Ronaldo's actions, saying "obviously any manager would wish it shouldn’t be too emotional and also in front of the TV cameras I don’t think this will be for the benefit of anyone".

But his form since then suggests the United forward heeded the words of interim manager Rangnick.
