Man Utd line-up with five new signings as Casemiro kick-starts late spending spree

Manchester United have made their fourth signing of the summer as Casemiro arrives from Real Madrid.

The 30-year-old holding midfielder is moves to Old Trafford after United agreed a fee on Friday night. He is the fourth player to arrive through the Old Trafford doors this summer after Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez all joined the club, with the latter making the £55m move from Erik ten Hag's former club Ajax.

There are expected to be more players arriving at United before the transfer window slams shut, especially after they lost their opening two games of the season against Brighton and Brentford.

With just under two weeks to go, the Red Devils are chasing another midfielder, an attacker who can play anywhere across the front three, a second-choice goalkeeper and a right-back.

If United get at least three more signings in those positions over the line, then Ten Hag can line-up with close to his ideal starting line-up for either their trip to Leicester City on September 1, or at home to Arsenal three days later.

Despite making a glaring mistake against the Bees last time out, David De Gea is expected to continue as United's No.1 for the time being, although Ten Hag wants to bring in a second-choice 'keeper this month.

Where will Man Utd finish this season? Let us know in the comments below!

At the back, Diogo Dalot is set to continue at right-back despite Ten Hag's attempt to strengthen in that area. Sergino Dest has been linked with a move to the Red Devils this month, but it doesn't seem like that will happen until at least next summer, with United keen to bolster other areas first. Harry Maguire and Martinez make up the centre-back pairing, although Raphael Varane could easily replace one of them, with Malacia at left-back.

Meanwhile, the midfield is the area where Ten Hag is desperate to change following their dismal start to the season. Champions League winner Casemiro would sit at the base of the three, with Frenkie de Jong as the No.8 and Bruno Fernandes just in front.

The saga surrounding De Jong's possible switch to United has dragged along all summer, but the Red Devils haven't given up on their approach of the midfielder. He is still their priority target for that position and Ten Hag wants to reunite with his former Ajax colleague.

Antony could be another new face through the doors at United after the Brazilian attacker refused to train with Ajax as he tries to force through a move to Old Trafford.

If the 22-year-old signs, he would surely play on the right of a front three alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, with Marcus Rashford used as an impact substitute.
