Man Utd learn staggering Victor Osimhen asking price as three alternatives considered

Manchester United are weighing up a summer move for Victor Osimhen - but the Napoli star will cost the club €100m (£89m).

The Red Devils are set to bolster their options once more come the end of the season with a marquee striker on their wish list. Erik ten Hag hasn't signed a No 9 since arriving at Old Trafford but has seen Cristiano Ronaldo depart the club, leaving a long-term hole in the forward line.

Osimhen has helped Napoli establish themselves at the top of Serie A with the Nigeria international scoring 15 goals in 20 games in all competitions. He has several admirers around Europe, PSG also among them, but a source has told ESPN of his mammoth price tag.

United added Wout Weghorst in January with the Dutchman coming in on loan. He's already been leading the line for the Red Devils and whilst he has ambitions to earn a permanent move, the expectation is that he will not return once the season ends as the Manchester outfit pursue other targets.

Some of Europe's leading forwards - namely Robert Lewandowsi, Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez - have all moved clubs in the last 12 months and are very unlikely to be on the market. As a result Osimhen has become a leading target for clubs needing more firepower.

United though have had to consider other options should they miss out on the Nigerian, who simply be priced out. Tottenham's Harry Kane is on the list having long proved himself in the Premier League. Former Arsenal target and current Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic is also an option.

He only moved to Turin last January but with the Old Lady in turmoil on and off the pitch he could consider his options. Youngster Benjamin Sesko, who was on United's radar in the summer, is the third forward being considered as an alternative to Osimhen. The Napoli star has two years to run on his deal, putting them in a strong position when it comes to negotiations. There are also wise to the fact that United and PSG's interest could ignite a bidding war, thus upping Osimhen's value.

His agent told Radio Kiss Kiss on a potential move earlier this season: "We haven't found out now that Osimhen is the subject of interest from so many teams, but things are done in three: who sells, who buys and the player. I was immediately clear this summer because I knew there would be a lot of news coming out from those who had other interests perhaps. But I, the boy and Napoli had very clear ideas.

"Whoever talked about a departure made a mistake. It was Victor's will to stay at Napoli and play the Champions League that he won entry to last year together with his teammates. Victor wanted exactly that, to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League. He has a long contract with the Azzurri. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue at Napoli and continue to do well."
