Man Utd keeping tabs on Ivan Toney as Brentford brace themselves for Premier League bids

Brentford striker Ivan Toney is attracting some serious interest from rival Premier League clubs this summer with Newcastle, West Ham and Leeds all keen.

Those three clubs are all on the lookout for a goalscorer and Toney, who struck 14 goals and chipped in with six assists last season, fits the bill. Manchester United are also understood to be keeping tabs on the 26-year-old’s situation.

Although whether or not they take their initial interest any further will depend on what happens with Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial this summer. Newcastle are looking for a striker and a winger this transfer window and have baulked at some of the prices they have been quoted for prospective targets.

That could bring a move for Toney into their plans as Eddie Howe looks to add more quality to his squad. West Ham boss David Moyes has been in the market for a new striker for the last four windows and is also understood to be an admirer of the player.

Elsewhere, Leeds boss Jesse Marsch is keen to add another frontline striker to give him the option of playing two up top. And Toney is believed to be a player who could work well alongside Patrick Bamford.

Brentford will be reluctant to lose Toney as he is such a key figure in Thomas Frank’s side. But there is a belief in West London that at least one bid could in for the highly-regarded frontman before the window closes.
