Man Utd goalkeeper shortlist down to two as FFP rules make Andre Onana too expensive

Manchester United are now looking at Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp to solve Erik ten Hag’s keeper headache.

Ten Hag has made it clear he wants a new No 1 to replace out-of-contract David De Gea and a back-up to allow him to sell Dean Henderson.

Cash-strapped United don’t have the money to deliver all of their manager’s summer targets.

The £60 million deal they have agreed to pay Chelsea for midfielder Mason Mount will account for half of the club’s £120 million transfer budget.

Ten Hag also wants a new striker and defender to bolster his team at both ends of the pitch.

But FFP restrictions mean United don’t have the £60 million it would take Inter Milan to sell Cameroonian international keeper Andre Onana.

And although the Reds hope to sell a number of players to raise more funds, they have now started to look at cheaper options.

Feyenoord will demand £20million for 25-year-old Dutch international Bijlow.

Trapp, 32, who has made seven appearances for Germany, would command a fee close to £10million.

United can raise most of the cash by selling Henderson to Nottingham Forest for £25million.

De Gea is now a free agent after his contract ran out on Friday.

United have not ruled out reopening talks with the 32-year-old Spaniard once his wedding celebrations have finished.

But Ten Hag has made it clear that De Gea cannot provide the ball-playing skills he requires from a keeper.
