Ralf Rangnick has called on Manchester United fans to turn up the volume and roar their team into the Champions League quarter-finals.
United host Spanish champions Atletico Madrid, with their last 16 tie level at 1-1 from the first leg, with the Red Devils hoping home advantage can help see them through.
Old Trafford was rocking on Saturday, when a hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo sealed a 3-2 win over Tottenham, with interim boss Rangnick demanding the same vocal support for the visit of Diego Simeone's side.
“Just like in the game against Spurs, we need both our players and our supporters to be on top form,” said Rangnick.
“After Saturday's game, Antonio Conte said it was a very difficult atmosphere for them to play in.
“This is probably one of the biggest compliments you can get, the head coach of the opponents says that after a game.”
“Our supporters play a vital role. It's always a very special atmosphere at Old Trafford and, in the end, they can be our 12 th or 13th player on the pitch.
“Even more so in Champions League games, they play a very important role, getting behind the team and making it a very special atmosphere.
“They can make the difference and make it a very special experience for everybody, but in the end it's up to us.
“The supporters are the ones we can rely on. What kind of energy happens, well that is up to us.
“We have to create those moments and then I think the rest will be done automatically by our fantastic supporters.”
United left-back Alex Telles, who will start on Wednesday, echoed Rangnick and said: “If we play well, the fans will always be behind us.
“We feel that when we’re at home. We have fantastic fans, they’re very positive and we react positively to that. That’s how it was against Spurs. I think it will be the same tomorrow.
“It's very important for us, the Champions League. When we play in this competition, we always dream of getting as far as we can.”
