Man Utd fans make Marcus Rashford demand after footage following FA Cup final defeat

Marcus Rashford showed his class after Manchester United's FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City as he consoled his team-mates following the full-time whistle.

Rashford, 25, has impressed for the Red Devils this season but had a quiet afternoon at Wembley as City ran out 2-1 winners thanks to Ilkay Gundogan's brace. Bruno Fernandes scored United's only goal on a disappointing afternoon for United, who end the campaign with a top-four finish and a Carabao Cup winners' medal.

After the game, a number of United stars broke down in tears and lay down on the pitch in dejection. Wout Weghorst and Alejandro Garnacho were amongst those who didn't look best pleased, while Bruno Fernandes could be spotted looking shell-shocked in the background.

However, a video on social media has been doing the rounds of Rashford going over to Weghorst and Garnacho to provide some support after his side's defeat. He went over to Weghorst and pulled him back up rather than sulking on the ground, before picking up Garnacho and giving him a word of advice in his ear.

Rashford has since been hailed by the United fans for what he had after the full-time whistle - and many think he should be a future captain. One said: "Pure class from Marcus Rashford, who lifts dejected teammates after the loss. Future club captain in the making." Another added: "He was the first to congratulate the City players as well which I thought was class. I’ve got a feeling he’ll be leaving this summer."

Rashford also took to Instagram after the match to deliver his assessment on the game and United's campaign as a whole. He said: "This game meant everything to us today, but it wasn't meant to be! It's clear to see progress has been made over the season, but we still have to keep improving and come back even stronger next season."

As for United, their season has now came to an end after over 60 matches and several competitions. They went all the way in the Carabao Cup, as well as reaching the quarter-final of the Europa League. However, returning to the Champions League by finishing third in the Premier League will be their finest achievement.

Speaking after the FA Cup final, Ten Hag said: "T here are occasions in the game, issues in the game we have to improve, definitely, if we want to make the next step and win trophies. I have only one plan, that is to improve this club and to improve this team.

"I have my ideas and I already told the club what we have to do for that but I have to work with my staff, with my players to be better next season. It's not about getting players in and they do well. It's about we work all season and day by day to develop the team, progress the team. I'm very proud where we came from in the start of the season."
