Man Utd face Marcus Rashford dilemma as Kylian Mbappe situation adds to transfer concern

Marcus Rashford has concerns over his Manchester United future and wants assurances about his role going forward.

Paris Saint-Germain have been monitoring Rashford's situation and could offer him a fresh start away from United this summer, particularly if they lose Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid.

Rashford has 18 months left on his current contract, although United are set to trigger a clause that allows them to extend the deal by a further year.

Despite that, England striker Rashford is worried about his future at United, having started just two of their last 11 Premier League games.

In the short-term, Rashford is determined to reclaim his place for United, not least to ensure he is part of Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad for Qatar later this year.

Those close to Rashford say the uncertainty over the managerial situation at United has had an adverse effect on the 24-year-old's form and confidence.

While Rashford has not made a definitive decision on his future, it is understood he is not guaranteed to sign a new contract with United.

Much will depend on the identity of interim boss Ralf Rangnick's permanent successor at United, with Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino the two favourites.

Rashford was disappointed not to be included in United's starting line-up for Sunday's 4-1 derby defeat at local rivals Manchester City.

With United missing Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, Rashford was the only recognised striker available to Rangnick, but was named on the bench.

Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga were selected ahead of Rashford in the wide roles, with Bruno Fernandes pushing forward through the middle.

Although Rashford came on midway through the second-half, he was unable to help United rescue the game, as Rangnick's side conceded two further goals.

Despite his omission from the starting line-up, before the game Rangnick said he still had faith in Rashford and vowed to do all he can to help him reach his full potential.
