Man Utd eye five new transfers as Erik ten Hag decides 10 players who can leave

Manchester United are hoping to complete five signings by the end of their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia later this month.

The Red Devils have had a bid accepted for Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia, agreed a fee in principle with Barcelona for midfielder Frenkie de Jong and reached verbal agreement for Christian Eriksen. They have also been linked with moves for Ajax duo Lisandro Martinez and Antony.

United are one of only five Premier League clubs yet to make a first-team signing this summer alongside Leicester City, Brentford, Chelsea and Wolves. But the Red Devils are expected to be busy between now and the end of the window as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

With the Red Devils' first friendly just over a week away, Ten Hag will want at least one new addition to be over the line in the coming days before they head to Bangkok. And the Manchester Evening News report he wants five deals done by the end of the month.

Malacia is expected to be the first with the defender pictured arriving at their training ground to complete his medical on Monday while deals for Eriksen, Martinez and De Jong are in the pipeline. De Jong is Ten Hag's top priority target in midfield as he looks to strengthen that area of the pitch after Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic all left the club.

James Garner is set be handed a chance to impress in pre-season following his impressive loan spell at Nottingham Forest, while Eriksen has been lined-up as another option after he shone for Brentford towards the end of last season.

Meanwhile, United hijacked Lyon's move for Malacia and have moved for Ajax defender Martinez, who also wanted by Arsenal. Sources say United are open to reinforcing all areas of the pitch, hence the move for Malacia despite the three left-backs already available to Ten Hag.

Alex Telles and Brandon Williams are both expected to move on this summer with Ten Hag already identifying 10 players who could depart either permanently or on loan.

The new manager is willing to listen to offers for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe. Andreas Pereira, who has just returned from his loan spell with Flamengo, is also on the transfer list with Anthony Martial after his dismal stint at Sevilla. Facundo Pellistri could embark on another loan move to secure a place in Uruguay’s World Cup squad and Amad could be loaned out again, although that deal is dependant on whether United reinforce up front.
