Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag admitted he feels sorry for Thomas Tuchel after he was sacked by Chelsea.
Tuchel was relieved of his duties on Wednesday morning following defeat in the Champions League by Dinamo Zagreb. The German was booked on a frustrating night in Croatia as Chelsea recorded their third straight loss away from home.
Ten Hag saw the Red Devils kick-start their campaign by losing 2-1 to Brighton on the opening day before being thumped 4-0 by Brentford. He has since turned things around with four straight wins, which has moved Man United up to fifth in the table.
On Wednesday he was asked for his reaction to Tuchel's sacking and responded: "I feel sorry, but there is nothing I can say. It's Chelsea, not Man United. It's early in the season, yes."
Chelsea released the following statement on their website on Wednesday morning to confirm Tuchel had been sacked.
"On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.
"Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea's history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.

"As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.
"Chelsea's coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.
"There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made."
Brighton boss Graham Potter and the currently out-of-work Mauricio Pochettino are among the favourites to replace Tuchel in the Chelsea hot seat.
