Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have all turned their noses up at the chance to sign Paulo Dybala on a free transfer as he prepares to leave Juventus. The forward has been linked with a switch to the Premier League.
Juventus are preparing to lose the Argentina international this month when his contract expires. The Old Lady have failed to come to new terms with Dybala after demanding that he take a pay cut.
The 28-year-old has spent seven years in Turin where he has won five Serie A titles and made 293 appearances in all competitions. But a move to the Premier League does not look like it is on the cards due to his exuberant wage demands.
According to the Daily Mail, Dybala has demanded £280,000-a-week which has led to the likes of United, Tottenham and Arsenal all snubbing a free transfer. His extravagant request would take up a huge segment of their wage bills.
United are the only ones who might be able to afford the Argentine but are trying to move away from blockbuster transfers that drain cash. At Arsenal, the highest earner is Thomas Partey on £200,000-a-week while Dybala would take home more than Harry Kane at Spurs.
It was Tottenham that were believed to have had the strongest case to sign the former Palermo star in the summer in a reunion with Antonio Conte. They are also the only club of the three to be in the Champions League.
But a transfer looks increasingly unlikely in the Premier League unless the player drastically lowers his wage demands, which does not look like it will be the case. In fact, the Juve star could remain in Italy with Inter Milan interested.
"I am quite calm, the people who I work with are taking care," Dybala said last week. "In Italy I am very comfortable. I would still like to know other leagues like Premier League, La Liga... but I'm happy in Italy."
Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has been supportive of the striker, despite the fact that he looks set to depart the club for nothing. He said: "Dybala has to go back to being himself.
"There was a moment when he got carried away by being the new [Lionel] Messi. You cannot copy or emulate someone else. Paulo has a lot to give to football, he has extraordinary technical qualities, but he has to go back to focusing on the latter.
