Chelsea fans have claimed it is a “disgrace” that a kick-off time has yet to be agreed for their showdown with Manchester United.
The game has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 22, because of the Champions League fixtures with Sky having already chosen it as one of their picks. It had been down as a Super Sunday 4.30pm game on October 23 but Chelsea were drawn to play RB Salzburg the following Tuesday so it was switched back.
However, while the fans are pointing the finger at the broadcasters, it is understood that it is the clubs who cannot agree the kick-off time which has caused the issue.
It would logically be played at 5.30pm but there has been an objection from one of the clubs and the Premier League are pushing for it to be resolved as quickly as possible to allow fans to plan travel and accommodation for what is always one of the biggest games of the season.
The Chelsea Supporters’ Trust said: “This highly anticipated fixture is slowly becoming a nightmare for many. A decision needs to be made without delay. We remind everyone that we are supporters, not customers.”
BT Sport are showing United’s trip to Everton on Sunday at 7pm which is an unusual kick-off time but is part of the new agreement to try and help Premier League teams in Europe. United played in the Europa League on Thursday night (TODAY).
The proximity of the two teams, United and Everton, meant they could play on Sunday night rather than the unpopular lunchtime slot which manages dislike after a European trip.
