Manchester United have the chance to leapfrog Newcastle to third and cut the gap with rivals Manchester City to just a point if they can pick up a home win against their local rivals for the first time in four meetings in all competitions. Erik ten Hag suffered defeat in the reverse fixture back in October in a match that saw nine goals at the Etihad Stadium plus two hat-tricks courtesy of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.
City are the favourites ahead of the derby at 5/6 with Betfred with United at 3/1 to cut the gap between the two sides to just a point and a draw is 11/4. Pep Guardiola's side will be looking for a league double for the sixth time when they make the short trip to Old Trafford with the chance to cut the gap with Arsenal to just two points - for a day at least anyway.
Guardiola will be keen for his side to improve after suffering a shock defeat to Southampton in the EFL Cup at St Mary's. The loss is the first time Spaniard was knocked out of a domestic cup quarter-final in his managerial career.
