Man United transfer verdict given on Harry Kane, Mason Mount and Declan Rice amid Arsenal links

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has given his verdict on a potential triple transfer swoop for England trio Harry Kane, Declan Rice and Mason Mount this summer. The Red Devils are looking to build upon their first season under Erik ten Hag, which has seen a third-placed finish in the Premier League, a Carabao Cup and the potential to add an FA Cup to the mix.

The need to strengthen could see them cross paths with a host of their top six rivals such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in the coming weeks. Kane is the one that has been heavily touted with a switch to Old Trafford this summer, with the need for a striker as the England men's team captain reaches the final 12 months of his contract with Spurs.

"I think he probably doesn't the appreciation he should," Interim Tottenham boss Ryan Mason said after the forward scored a brace against Leeds. "The goals yes, outstanding, a 30-goal season in the Premier League is incredible but also his overall performances are just outstanding and I also think as well to go through what happened in the World Cup, from a mental point of view, to come back and do what he's done for the past four or five months, I think it speaks volumes for the player and the person."

There's also a view to the midfield, with Rice and Mount said to be on United's radar to help bolster the central ranks. Both are approaching the final year of their contract too, with expectation arising that the pair will be allowed to leave both West Ham and Chelsea respectively.

Arsenal are a side that have been linked with the duo in their own midfield revamp and football.london understands that Declan Rice has been made a top priority for the Gunners this summer. When it comes to United though, former star Keane believes that Kane and Rice could be great additions, but questions hang over Mount.

He told Sky Sports: "Listen, they’re [Manchester United] going to be linked with lots of players but the one that would excite you really is Kane... He’s [Mason Mount] just gone off the boil a little bit. He can bounce back and he’s got quality, I was raving about him a few years ago but he’s just gone missing the last year or two.

"Again, one or two injuries and the fact he can’t get in the Chelsea team I wouldn’t be hanging my hat too much on him to improve United and close the gap. I think he’s a good player but would he improve Man United? I’m not so sure.

"I think Rice would, Rice would be a decent signing, but in terms of the excitement and goalscoring, I’d go all-in for Kane. But, can I see Spurs selling to Man United? Very, very difficult."
