Man United set to battle Tottenham for £50m summer transfer as Erik ten Hag plans overhaul

Manchester United are set to rival Tottenham for the signature of Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni this summer. Antonio Conte is looking to overhaul his Spurs defence but is facing a battle with new United boss Erik ten Hag.

football.london understands Spurs are set to pursue Conte and Paratici favourite Bastoni from Inter. The 23-year-old played 41 times under Conte last season and added another 44 appearances this campaign while becoming a regular international starter for Italy.

Conte has already confirmed to Paratici that he will be staying for next season and an extra £150 million has been provided by ENIC to bolster their summer business. Ivan Perisic is set to arrive on a free transfer and he may not be the only member of Conte's old Inter Milan side to arrive.

The January transfer window saw Rodrigo Bentacur and Dejan Kulusevski arrive from Juventus and the duo made a large contribution to their fourth-place finish. But it now appears that defence will be the next priority in north London.

RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol and Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence has also been linked with moves to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but bringing about a reunion between Conte and Bastoni appears to be the priority.

But a challenge has emerged from fellow Premier League side Manchester United. The Red Devils are at the beginning of another new era with Ten Hag arriving to take the reigns from Ralf Rangnick, who announced he would be leaving Old Trafford entirely.

As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport, via SempreInter, Ten Hag is a huge admirer of Bastoni and has made him a top target ahead of the summer. Inter are demanding £50 million for his services with no shortage of high profile suitors.
