Man United's Harry Maguire shows class to West Ham teenagers as Kurt Zouma celebrates win

West Ham United moved on the verge of safety in the Premier League after a 1-0 win over Manchester United last night.

Said Benrahma’s goal in the first half proved to be the difference as three points against the Red Devils saw David Moyes’ side move seven points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone heading into their final three Premier League rivals.

As the win saw West Ham move all but safe, here are some of the lesser spotted moments from the London Stadium victory.

Harry Maguire’s moment of class

West Ham’s under-18s are having a special season, having won the FA Youth Cup and Premier League South titles in a historic campaign for Kevin Keen’s side.

Ahead of kick-off, the under-18s were paraded around the London Stadium to immense applause from all corners of the ground from the West Ham fans.

Just as they were coming towards the end of their lap and about to go back down the tunnel, Man United captain Harry Maguire walked over to the Hammers’ young stars and congratulated them on their excellent season.

It was a moment of pure class and showed that he wanted to pass on his praise to West Ham’s stars, who could win the treble on Wednesday night when they head to Manchester United in the national final of the Under-18s Premier League, with a place in next season’s UEFA Youth League up for grabs.

Kurt Zouma’s celebrations

French centre-back Kurt Zouma was missed against United for a second straight match due to an ankle injury sustained eight days earlier against Crystal Palace.

Despite not being involved in the game, Zouma was in attendance at full-time and was celebrating with his teammates as they beat a ‘big six’ side for the first time in their 13th and final attempt this season.

The Frenchman showed how much the team means to him by his togetherness with his teammates in the celebrations, with West Ham now having a European semi-final to look forward to in midweek.

Tomas Soucek going through the wars

Many people referred to midfielder Tomas Soucek’s best form coming when the Czech Republic midfielder has been forced to wear a headband in previous seasons due to injuries.

Soucek’s display against the Red Devils was reminiscent of the form that saw him score ten goals in his debut season for the club, once forcing a good save out of David De Gea before smashing a volley off the post minutes later and also seeing a second half headed goal ruled out for a narrow offside.

At the disallowed goal, Soucek could only produce a wry smile, the look of someone gutted his goal did not count as opposed to being frustrated, with West Ham oozing in confidence and style in the second half.

Later on, Soucek showed his fight and never say die attitude when flinging himself at a loose ball and ending up in a clash of heads with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, needing stitches in his head as a result of it.

He certainly played to his best like his old former self and hopefully, it is a sign of a strong end to the season for him.
